Pardon My Garden (Post 130)
Pardon My Garden (1992), is a collection of poetry. I was invited to take over compiling and editing this collection after (I think...) the original editor dropped out. I can't remember the exact circumstances, but I know I was sent a lot of material. I found some gems in the submissions and had a lot of fun putting the book together. I sorted it into categories and invited other poets to send me pieces to fill the gaps. Some gaps remained, and I wrote some pieces myself to even things out. The title was provided in-house (not from me) and is taken from a funny piece in the nonsense-poetry section. The whole confection came out in hardback, and copies still turn up from time to time on eBay. I'm pretty sure Pardon My Garden was the first collection I compiled and edited.
About the Blog
Sally is Sally Odgers; author, manuscript assessor, editor, anthologist and reader. She runs http://www.affordablemanuscriptassessments.com and Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)
The goal for 2017 is to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. If you enjoyed a post, or want to ask about any of my books or my manuscript assessment service, leave me a message.
