Sunshower

Sunshower (2018)  Book Post 416

Sunshower is a romance in the Fairy in the Bed series. This one comes after Sam and the Sylvan, (although it can stand alone) and follows Tab Merriweather, eldest of the four Merriweather halflings, on twin quests. One is to take a message to Sam Silver's great aunt, who is fretting herself to death in a nursing home, and the other is to get his beloved Josefa to consider being his girlfriend for real.
A road trip from eastern Victoria to Adelaide  follows a musical trail, with each chapter titled for a song. Tab and Josefa, knowing no one at the nursing home, plan to get inside under the guise of visiting musicians, and Tab wrings out every drop of music he can. After all, this is one of the things he shares most dearly with Josefa.

I had a lovely time finding the songs to echo chapter themes, and I hope readers will enjoy following the trail of nineteen songs from a 1971 hit from Dusty Springfield through Stevie Wonder, Buddy Holly, The Who, AC/DC, ABBA, the Singing Nuns and many more, culminating with a particular favourite of mine from Keith Michell.
In each case I tried to use the original hit rather than the (sometimes better known) later covers.

As well as music, you'll encounter a determined colleen in pursuit of a publican, an old lady who is not what she pretends, a priest who is sometimes a tomcat, cider, cake, a four poster bed complete with preposterously pin-tucked nightshirts and a whole lot more. To check out Sunshower (or to buy it...) go HERE .
It's brand new; published this week.

ABOUT THE BLOG

Sally is Sally Odgers; author, anthologist and reader. She runs  Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)

The goal for 2017 was to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. 2017 is now behind us, but I ran out of year before running out of books. As of February 18th 2018 I STILL haven't run out of books, but many of those still to come are MIA by which I mean I don't have copies and remember little about them. There are more new books to come, and I'll certainly showcase those, but in between times, I'm profiling some of my characters, just for a change. Thank you so much to everyone who's come along on this journey so far!
