the ridiculous and a great desire to balance her world. Cat is the only daughter of Dr Cordelia Petros. She has an affectionate but necessarily distant relationship with her mother's parents (who had no idea of her existence until she was already a few weeks old) and an odd and sometimes contentious one with her only other known relative; Elizabeth, who happens to be her five-times great grandmother.
Cat enjoys a lively social life, mostly with her two best friends Sara Court and Jessie-Lou Bunby, not to speak of Sara's brother, Brendan George. What they don't know is that as well as being a teenaged girl, Cat is also an ethical witch. Witch biz, as Cat terms it, runs in the family and has done for several generations. In practical terms, it just means Cat can sometimes find out things through unusual channels. She sees and perceives a little more than her friends, and she has a cat named Tish-Tash who is much more than a cat.
Cat likes to fly under the radar, but she also has a strong sense of justice, so she will make reparation or seek revenge whenever she deems it necessary. Cat is a nice girl, fair-haired with grey eyes and high cheekbones. She's a good friend. Just don't get on her wrong side or you might find yourself suffering some creative and embarrassing misfortune.
Cat Mahal appears in the Cat Mahal is Magic series beginning with The Peacock's Pearl.
ABOUT THE BLOG
Sally is Sally Odgers; author, anthologist and reader. She runs Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)
The goal for 2017 was to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. 2017 is now behind us, but I ran out of year before running out of books. As of February 18th 2018 I STILL haven't run out of books, but many of those still to come are MIA by which I mean I don't have copies and remember little about them. There are more new books to come, and I'll certainly showcase those, but in between times, I'm profiling some of my characters, just for a change. Thank you so much to everyone who's come along on this journey so far!
