Ssstories

Ssstories (2016) Post 186

Ssstories is another anthology from Prints Charming Books, ringmastered, edited and compiled by me. As the title implies, the stories are all about subjects beginning with S - and each one can be described by more S-words. The subjects were signs, shops, sacks, stars, shoes, schools, snapshots, soup and soapboxes. The adjectives were sweet, sharp, shivery, soulful, smirky, snappy and sparkling. Each adjective was applied to at least seven of the subjects, producing a wide range of stories for different tastes. This time there was no narrative thread, but I wrote the introductions and links, and also, as before, filled in missing pieces of the pattern. The cover is a pre-made one from a self-publishers' site. I'd bought it for a different title that never got off the ground, but the bright colours and the panel at the front worked well with the list.

Of course, having coordinated this one, I remembered lots of S-words we'd missed, including sand, sunshine, sea, seals, spies, secrets, sewing and so on... hey, maybe there's enough material out there for another volume! About the Blog

Sally is Sally Odgers; author, manuscript assessor, editor, anthologist and reader. She runs http://www.affordablemanuscriptassessments.com and Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)

The goal for 2017 is to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. If you enjoyed a post, or want to ask about any of my books or my manuscript assessment service, leave me a message.
