Lucky Draw (2015) Post 187
Lucky Draw is an anthology from Prints Charming Books, ringmastered, edited and compiled by me. In this case, I wanted an even mix of stories to make a wide-ranging book for use in a family, library or classroom. Thirty-three authors joined in with the project, and I offered seven stories in each of seven genres; adventure, animal, comedy, family, fantasy, historical and science fiction. For each story, I gave a title or one or two line prompt. The authors made of this whatever they pleased, within the genre and the primary-school level.

As well as the stories, we have explanations of the genres, introductions, author profiles and some writing prompts for young readers. Lucky Draw, because of the big word-count, was printed as an A4 collection. Shortly, it will also be available in a smaller size to conform more nearly to modern novels. The idea of the bigger size was to mimic the storybooks and collections of the 1950s and 1960s, but some people find it difficult to categorise and to shelve. The cover is a piece of art commissioned on either fiverr or elance, and used twice in the design.

About the Blog
Sally is Sally Odgers; author, manuscript assessor, editor, anthologist and reader. She runs http://www.affordablemanuscriptassessments.com and Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)
The goal for 2017 is to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. If you enjoyed a post, or want to ask about any of my books or my manuscript assessment service, leave me a message.
