Harriet and the Heman (2011) Post 339
To quote the blurb... Harriet Barnstormer pilots the 'Cornish Pisky', the only original strat-ship left on the deep-space run.
Despite the use of the word Pisky, this story has nothing to do with my 2017 title Pisky Business. This Pisky is an old spaceship, and Harriet, bless her ornery heart, is going to hang on to it as long as the rust holds it together. Harriet has other retrograde notions, too. Once she gets hold of something that suite her, she keeps it. If it wears out, she replaces it with something identical. Therefore, she's not pleased when a certain compulsory item in her repertoire is superseded and she's offered a new, improved model... Enter the Heman, a totally unnecessary upgrade from her perfectly reliable (until it wore out) purse-pecker. Harriet comes out swinging and writes so many rude messages that finally the company manager comes to sort her out.
If you fancy a bit of saucy fun with Harriet, you can buy her story HERE.
ABOUT THE BLOG
Sally is Sally Odgers; author, manuscript assessor, editor, anthologist and reader. She runs http://www.affordablemanuscriptassessments.com and Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)
The goal for 2017 is to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist.
