Clever Thor

Clever Thor  2000 Post 312

Clever Thor is a story that began life in Kalgoorlie. I was doing a book week stint there at the time. Now, book week stints and such usually mean very busy days from nine till two thirty, and a lot of spare time otherwise. Book Week authors are a bit like library books; stored and removed then booked back in. It's great, because we get a good look about and time to work in the evenings. I used to do free form embroidery before my tendonitis got too bad, and I was prowling through an embroidery and craft shop when someone came in and bought a bag of eyes.
Yes, eyes. I could scarcely believe my gratified ears. Naturally, I wrote a book called Buying Eyes, about a girl named Giselle who was anything but graceful. I was asked to change the title and the sex of the protagonist, so I renamed the character Thor... who was anything but big and brave. Clever Thor is another book I can't find in my collection, and which has no cover photo on the 'net. If/when I find it, I'll post it here.

ABOUT THE BLOG

Sally is Sally Odgers; author, manuscript assessor, editor, anthologist and reader. She runs http://www.affordablemanuscriptassessments.com and Prints Charming Books. (Sally is me, by the way, and I am lots of other things too, but these are the relevant ones for now.)

The goal for 2017 is to write a post a day profiling the background behind one of my books; how it came to be written, what it's about, and any things of note that happened along the way. If you're an author, an aspiring author, a reader or just someone who enjoys windows into worlds, you might find this fun. The books are not in any special order, but will be assigned approximate dates, and pictures, where they exist. If you enjoyed a post, or want to ask about any of my books or my manuscript assessment service.
